Totana City Council has committed, under an agreement of its Local Government Board promoted by the councilor of Archaeological Sites, Juan José Cánovas, to allocate credit to co-finance part of the research project and documentation of the Cueva de la Plata, located in the regional park of Sierra Espuña.
The Association Association of Historiological and Ethnographic Studies, through its president Teresa Fernández Azorín, has presented a project in this sense to request a grant before the General Direction of Cultural Assets.
This subsidy has been requested under the order of July 11, 2018, of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, which establishes the regulatory basis for subsidies for research and intervention of archaeological and paleontological heritage of the Region of Murcia
In the Cueva de la Plata, located a few meters from the forest house of the same name and in the foothills of Pedro López, there is a small shelter where amazing paintings are kept for their size and complexity.
With dimensions of three meters in length and thick linear lines, there are two segments of red arcs, one on top of the other, in the center of which rises a vertical line one meter high.
The interpretation of these paintings is difficult and seems to suggest the presence of a boat.
In another sector of the shelter there are loose lines also of prehistoric ascription.
On the other hand, in the northern slope of the Sierra Espuña, several cavities are located, which, as in the case of the Cueva de la Plata, were most likely used by groups of shepherds who made trips at a time of incipient livestock.
