The Popular Race "Fiestas de Santiago de Totana" was held last Friday, organized by the Department of Sports, with exit and finish in the Plaza de la Constitución, where a total of 226 athletes of all categories participated, from minibenjamin to veterans , highlighting the record of participation of the test in the absolute category, with 127 athletes.
At the sporting event, numerous athletes from other municipalities of the Region of Murcia participated, and even from neighboring provinces.
The absolute winner of the event, over a distance of 5,000 meters, was Mario Molina Salas, in the men's category, followed by totanero José Domingo Ruíz Morales and Andrés Larios Martínez (Puertas Lorca), in the second and third positions respectively.
As for the women's category, the absolute winner was Vanessa García Refoyo (Oriente Atlético), while Mari Carmen Lorenzo Rodríguez was second, and the totanera Alba Martínez Ibáñez finished third.
Regarding the local classification, José Domingo Ruiz Morales was the first in the men's category, followed by Raúl Cifuentes, Antonio Navarro, Antonio Sánchez Martínez and Miguel Ángel Del Vals.
While in the feminine modality, the best totanera was Alba Martínez Ibáñez, followed by Rosa Ibáñez Serrano, María José Cánovas Cánovas, Paula Pérez Merlos and Aida Cano Esparza.
The champions of the respective categories in this absolute test were the following athletes: Francisco Pastor Navarro (Nogalte), in junior men;
Antonio Sánchez Martínez and María Isabel Orcajada Robles (Athletic Club Jumilla), in pledge;
Fernando Javaloy Pérez (Valerunners) and Laua López García (Lorca Orientation), in senior;
Raúl Cifuentes (Puertas Lorca) and Isabel Angel Raja (CA Fuente Álamo), in master 35;
Mario López Pérez and Maider Iragi Moreno, in master 40;
Francisco Molina Lorente (Puertas Lorca) and Rosa Ibáñez Serrano (GS Venta La Rata), in master 45;
Francisco Alonso Vidal (Eliocroca) and María José Cánovas Cánovas, in master 50;
Luís García Sánchez (Puertas Loca) and María José Jiménez Martínez, in Master 55;
Andrés García Sánchez (Retoyosipuedo) and Estebana Esparza Egea (Fuente Álamo Caja Rural Regional), in master 60;
and finally, José Antonio García Llamas (Puertas Lorca), in master 65 male.
On the other hand, and prior to the absolute test, the children's races were organized, which had the following winners: Jimena Hernández Corbalán (Eliocroca) and Charlie Gabriel Coronel Alciba, in the youngest category;
Angels Palomares i Mari (Cableworld Novelda) and Guillermo Conolly García, in alevín;
Juan Carlos Marco Ruiz and Sara Dahmani Dahmani, in children;
Ahmed Tourabi Nadif (Diego Team) and Isabella Foy, in cadet;
Adrián Fernández García (Diego Team) and María del Mar García Pérez (Nogalte), in youth.
The test concluded with the delivery of trophies to the first three of the general, the top three of each category and the top five local classifieds, in the male and female modalities, which was attended by the councilors of Sports and Urban Planning , Isabel María Molino López and Carlos Ballester Méndez, respectively.
Finally, the Department of Sports wants to show their gratitude to sports volunteers, sports clubs, civil protection, local police and the Athletics Federation of the Region of Murcia, for their collaboration in the test, essential for it to be carried out ;
as well as the companies Moyca and Hero, who have also collaborated in supplying the supplies for the runners.
