A cyclist from Totana passes away in a traffic accident hit by a tourist who lost control of the vehicle invading the opposite lane, just outside the urban area (08/05/2018)

A 78-year-old rider from Totana passed away this morning when he was traveling by bicycle, around 11:20 am, at kilometer 614 of the N-340 road, just outside the town center of this town, when Apparently he was hit by a tourist who lost control of the vehicle invading the opposite lane occupied by three cyclists, the deceased and two others who were not injured.

According to sources of the Local Police and Civil Protection displaced to the place of the event, the emergency services of the Health Center of Totana have only been able to confirm the death of the cyclist and, in addition, have had to transfer the driver of tourism to a center sanitary, since apparently his indisposition could have caused the accident after losing control of the vehicle.

As a result of the same the cyclist, who was traveling in the direction of Lorca-Totana, has suffered a major trauma in the head being on the road unconscious and blocking the way, according to the same sources.

Up to the place of the event, next to the facilities of the Tennis Club of Totana, have also moved troops of the Civil Traffic Guard who have mounted a device for more than an hour to facilitate the transit of vehicles on this road.

In addition, Civil Protection volunteers have provided psychological assistance to the victim's relatives at home.

In the same way, municipal authorities, including Mayor Andrés García, have come to the site of the event to learn about the work of emergency services.

The Municipal Corporation wants to convey its respectful condolences to the family and friends of the deceased man, and convey a message of solidarity and support in these hard moments of pain and dismay.
