Consumption launches a series of recommendations to address healthy heat stroke planned for this summer (11/06/2010)

The Department of Consumer Totana City Council has informed the public about the various recommendations given to prevent the effects of heat, which is hitting the region of Murcia, in order to sensitize the general public about the dangers of the sun on health.

This initiative is intended to mark the special form of awareness of the major adverse effects that have the heat and sun when temperatures recorded extreme values with the arrival of summer.

The elderly, along with children and outdoor workers are the group most susceptible to suffer the dreaded heat stroke and sunburn to suffer the skin, as noted by the council of Consumer Affairs, María Isabel Sánchez.

Also pointed out that the heat does not affect all people equally, as there are groups more sensitive to the effects of high temperatures, where the people over 65 and children under 4, which is that sum to people suffering from cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, Alzheimer's, respiratory diseases or mental workers and people exposed to the sun as well as people being treated with drugs such as diuretics, beta blockers and antidepressants, and obese people.

Exposure to excessive temperatures may cause health problems such as cramps, dehydration, sunstroke, heat stroke and sunburn, as indicated.

In this way, have advised citizens on how to deal with major emergencies to prevent the effects of heat which may occur in the summer campaign as they can be muscle cramps, heat exhaustion, heat stroke or dehydration.

Also, warning to those who suffer from overweight, chronic illness or are under medical treatment, they must advise caution and also maintain a common control on the most vulnerable to the effects of high temperatures, either because of age or disability.

In order to avoid such situations, users are advised to keep well hydrated, drink plenty of water or fluid intake avoiding alcohol, beverages, stimulants and excess sugar.

Similarly, it is advisable to avoid high temperature environments, in addition to major physical effort under the sun and make light meals, as should eat foods high in fluids and minerals.

In case of undertaking activities outside elements, use protection such as hats, shirts, and lotions to avoid problems in the head and skin, drink plenty of water or other liquid, in addition to acting to symptoms of heatstroke and dehydration.

Also, among other recommendations is to keep food in the refrigerator, do not leave children or elderly people inside a car with the windows closed and to help people who may be at increased risk from the effects of heat.

Finally, recalled a series of recommendations to be considered in case of emergency, when you need to call 112, made available to all citizens to see any help or information in addition to address situations where emergencies.
