The "Raitotana", which was consolidated with the improvement of infrastructure and services, has offered 60 courses in new technologies (08/06/2010)

The Councillor for New Technologies, Juan Carrion, accompanied by the computer technician, Pedro Antonio Canovas, has made a positive assessment of the project "Network of Computer Classroom Totana: Raitotana" which has been the improvement of infrastructure and services different computer rooms in the city, where he has taught over 60 courses with the participation of a thousand people.

In the words of the mayor, is "an innovative project in Murcia this enabling new technology literacy and access to them all the people of Totana and especially the most disadvantaged and vulnerable older , disabled and at risk of social exclusion. "

This is a local initiative project, which began in 2007 and has united under a single name different computer rooms of the town of Totana.

There are currently 11 classrooms in the municipality computer made available to the public that are the result of various agreements between the city of Totana and other agencies, such as 4 Walas open access (ODL, Barrio El Parral, Jail and Citizenship) and said that soon there will be a new wala in San Roque, 4 telecentres (Raiguero Bass, San Francisco district, Plaza Balsa Vieja and Occupational Center), and 3 rural internet Lebor, The Pareton and Raiguero Alto.

All these classes are integrated into the RED WINGS in the Region of Murcia (agreement signed in late 2009) and its connection to the Internet is through the RED CTNet managed by the Autonomous Community of Murcia.

The inclusion in the network has significantly improved CTNet Internet for Classrooms, and brings improvements in security in network access and the provision level of a complete network infrastructure services such as content filtering, better control of the Internet, etc.

The project, as reported by the mayor, has yielded some very positive data for its two years of life, since from its inception in September 2007 about 1,000 people have received training in new technologies in more than 100 courses.

The courses were taught during the first journey of the project have been mostly of Education in core courses and basic information and the Internet.

In addition to the development of training, free access developed in the various classrooms that make up the network of computer rooms in Totana has had an influx of more than 6,000 people.

For free access have been developed for all activities related to Internet Connection: Navigation, Email, Chat, etc.

Likewise also the other users have enjoyed as a webcam for video conferencing services, printing, scanner, etc.

On the other hand, Carrión reported as news and progress has expanded the training offered to have foreseen the development of new advanced courses for people with concomo the Excel Spreadsheet, Database Access, Power Point and Digital Photography.

It also has expanded the number of city services and neighborhood organizations and groups benefiting from these courses because courses are scheduled occupational centers and early intervention aimed at enhancing the training of individuals and groups at risk of exclusion and has managed to fully fund the project with funds under Plan E obtained for it a grant of 49,500 euros

Similarly, stressed that the project is coordinated by the Department of New Technologies and its development involved the lamp and the Special Employment Centre "DEITANIA."

The courses offered that address the public in general can perform any person upon request of the municipality, which may be collected and delivered to City Hall or in places where they are to conduct the training.

These training activities, as reported by the mayor, the courses have begun in May and will last until end of November.

Finally, the mayor noted that the organization of different courses are involved the Department of Culture, Citizenship, Development and Employment, Social Welfare, Women, all with the coordination of the Department of New Technologies.
