Totana joins the commemoration of "World Environment Day" with the reading of a manifesto and the development of different activities (07/06/2010)

06/04/2010 - Totana has today commemorated the World Environment Day, celebrated on Saturday June 5, to read the Manifest World and developing a series of activities to be carried out throughout the day in order to remember it is everyone's responsibility to maintain the conservation of the environment in which we live.

During the act of reading the manifesto, which was attended by the Mayor of Totana, José Martínez Andreo, and Council Member for the Environment, Trini Cayuela, the municipality has joined the global celebration of this day, repeated in various parts of world events or celebrations which have the common goal of calling people to get involved in protecting nature and the pursuit of sustainable development.

The City Council of Totana, through the Department of Environment, in its policy towards sustainable development, "developed the" Environmental Education "and" Establishment of channels for public participation in environmental matters "in order to enable a space social participation and direct contact with the feelings of the public to environmental issues affecting the city.

For this reason, and through reading the manifesto, which has been read by some girls, it was noted that through these various actions is to raise public awareness of the need to protect our urban environment and our natural environment, help discover and appreciate the natural resources at local and global level, awareness of the main problems afflicting our environment and promote public participation in environmental actions.

He highlighted the importance of involving people in solving environmental problems.

In this context, throughout the day will develop different activities in commemoration of World Environment Day to celebrate such a significant date.

The program of activities has begun at 09:30 hours with an environmental education activities, aimed at students of 2 nd year of primary school, which has had the participation of schools "Reina Sofia", "Tierno Galván", "San José "and" Miracle. "

These activities have worked various topics such as water, energy, biodiversity and waste and there will be small colorful murals to be exhibited throughout the park and there have been workshops on these topics.

In the afternoon, and at 18:30 there were six workshops in the park to reuse waste materials, such as "Make your spring flowers," "She makes a case alternative", "Deck thyself bracelets with your own role," "Show your skills with a cubilín" and "Make your own instruments: brands, Djambo and other percussion instruments."

Simultaneously, carry out a green Gynkana in the park with reference to evidence to the Environment.

Likewise, from the 20:00 hours there will be a storyteller by the group of animation and children's theater "Kataclown" and 20:30 pm will proceed to the presentation of the "Guide Geological Espuña Regional Park" in Casino de Totana.

The municipal official of the Environment has encouraged all citizens to participate in these awareness activities that enhance the respect for the environment and appealed to civic responsibility, as "the world will be the legacy we leave our children."

For its part, the mayor encouraged all residents to continue working with the preservation of the environment, and that the City of Totana is still of an exemplary treatment of the environment, since it was awarded last year as a municipality responsible with the Green Flag award for the quality of its environmental management.
