CAVI has served 107 women who have suffered any act of violence since its commissioning in 2008 (13/03/2010)

Councilwoman Women and Equal Opportunities, Josefa Maria Sanchez, has reported the latest data on attention to cases of gender violence in Totana, registered in the Center of Services for Women Victims of Domestic Violence (CAVI), which served 107 women who suffer or have suffered any physical violence and psychological, from their operation from October 2008 until March 2010.

Moreover, within these interventions face in the center, the mayor stressed that it has been reported for services provided by the CAVI to a total of 50 women who also had complaints of violence, but for various reasons have not attended Caviar, having been informed by telephone.

Also reported that recent data recorded in 2010 shows that 22 women have served, 11 Spanish and 11 foreign, corresponding to sessions with the psychologist, followed by a social worker and lawyer.

In total, since its operation have made a total of 1,200 interventions among psychological, legal and social.

Regarding the type of child abuse reported, the mayor has highlighted the psychological abuse, followed by physical and sexual and economic.

Half of the victims were Spanish, and other nationalities, Ecuador, Morocco and Bolivia, among others.

The percentages are balanced in terms of the relationship with the aggressor, either boyfriend, spouse, former boyfriend or spouse.

In most cases, in the town of Totana, following the complaint, ruling with a restraining order and the advice of CAVI, women victims of domestic violence, break the living with the abuser.

The type of surgery performed is, for the most part, legal, psychological, social and police.

The purpose of this service, he recalled the mayor, "is getting these women to face life independently, giving them social skills and psychological stability needed to overcome the aftermath of abuse."

The CAVI, currently located in the ancient courts of the street Sister Josefa Perez number 2, is formed by a team composed of a psychologist, a social worker and a lawyer, to provide comprehensive care, personal and continuous .

With the launch of this service, meets one of the objectives framed by the second Plan of Equal Opportunities within the area of gender violence, to combat manifestations of violence against women and provide optimal care to people suffering domestic violence.

Finally, the mayor has called for the law against gender violence is fully developed before the helplessness felt by victims of domestic violence to give media and social and legal resources to all stakeholders in this area.
