The students of the schools "Reina Sofia" and "Santa Eulalia" held two pilgrimages to honor the patron (04/12/2009)

The Mayor of Totana, José Martínez Andreo, and the Councillor for Education, Trini Cayuela, have attended the events organized to mark the celebrations in honor of Santa Eulalia, for schools, "Reina Sofia" and "Santa Eulalia" respectively, with the aim of instilling cultural and folk traditions to the younger totaneras.

In this way, both schools have organized a simple and moving ceremony to honor the patron saint of Totana, Santa Eulalia de Merida, performing a pilgrimage in the vicinity of schools, whose streets were decorated to welcome the image of the patron.

The children, wearing the red scarf of the pilgrimage as the Sisters of the Holy, carried carnations while escorting the throne of his patron, carried by young Brothers of the Holy, then offer it to the altar.

The students themselves have been responsible for carrying with great satisfaction the makeshift throne.

During the event, has not lacked color and joy, as the young pilgrims have delighted the audience with popular songs of the parties during the course of the procession.

Also, children were accompanied by parents, and representatives of the educational community of both schools and members of the Association of Mothers and Fathers who have helped and worked on organizing the event.

Subsequently, the events culminated with a delicious lunch prepared by parents, where there have been ground pepper cakes and typical totaneros of these special days.
