The Mayor of Totana, José Martínez Andreo, Councillor for Social Welfare, Juan Carrion, the director general of People with Disabilities Murciano Institute of Social, IMAS, Marisol Morente, have visited all municipal infrastructure for the disabled community in the municipality Totana.
The day began with a meeting between local and regional authorities with the Advisory Council of Vocational Centre "José Moya, where students are represented and family and professional staff the center.
During the development of it has analyzed the performance of the student's county, and moved to Marisol Morente the needs of this group and the immediate need for increased budgetary allocation for all services implemented by the Local Town Hall for disability.
Also during the visit have been found "in situ" professional work that is being developed both in the Occupational Center "José Moya" and the Early Childhood Center, as in the Psychosocial Support Service Totana.
The mayor of Social Welfare reported that work is starting to become operational again during the day center for people with disabilities, which is located in the new Multipurpose Center in the neighborhood "Tirol Camilleri" under a direct subsidy to be granted through the IMAS for the financing of equipment at this facility.
The new building of over 700 square meters, whose works have been completed will be devoted entirely to the care of people with disabilities.
The infrastructure has been built on a ground floor area of 850 square meters that will house the Center for Persons with Mental Illness, associations and center day care for people with intellectual disabilities, as an extension of the activities of the Occupational Center "José Moya ".
In addition, the center will have other premises for the use of partnerships related to mental illness, multipurpose spaces, offices, training rooms, double rooms for disabled toilets, kitchen, storage and porch.
The works already completed, the company claimed SL Aquilegia Contracts with a budget amounting to 762,540 euros.
For his part, said Marisol Morente their sensitivity to this group and has committed to financially support these services launched by the city of Totana to give continuity to them, showing his admiration and respect for the local Town Hall and all groups and organizations working to improve the quality of life for the disabled.
Also, the municipal councilor thanked the cooperation and willingness of the Ministry for Social Policy and highlighted its particular sensitivity in this regard.
As explained Martínez Andreo, the trajectory of the Municipality in caring for this group is vast, betting renew, expand and implement new infrastructure that can accommodate new health care services for these people.
In 2002 the Consistory launched an economic partnership with the association of relatives to care for people with mental illness.
In 2005 the City took over management of day care service for people with mental illness in the municipality.
That same year began the process for the construction of the Multipurpose Center, which will be launched later this year.
In addition, Martínez Andreo has committed to continue working, despite economic difficulties, to ensure the continued provision of these services, enhancing their improvement, while showing his great gratitude to the regional government.
