The Councillor for Education awards prizes comics contest against truancy (29/05/2009)

The Councillor for Education, Trini Cayuela, presented the awards of "Comics Contest Against Truancy," framed in Awareness Campaign Truancy, carried out from the Municipal Service of Prevention and Control of School Absenteeism, which 60 students have taken part 1 and 2 of compulsory secondary education in all schools in the municipality.

The main objective of this contest has been to reflect the youth of the municipality of the importance of education in their lives and their future, both personally and professionally, as well as the negative consequences of abandoning the education system prematurely.

The award-winning comic, as the mayor said, remain the property of the City of Totana to be able to play freely, without any right accruing such reproduction.

The Department of Education reserves the right to add a strip in showing the logo of the City of Totana and the Municipal Service Control Prevention and Truancy.

For the selection of comics award winners has been evaluated for originality, quality of papers presented and the message you wanted to convey.

The task of selecting the winners, as the mayor said, "has been quite difficult for jurors, given the quality of the same" and said be pleasantly surprised by the great success he has had this contest for students totaneros.

Moreover, the cartoon competition has been very well received by youth in the municipality, as reported Cayuela, have posted a total of 31 comics made by students of the School "La Milagrosa" College " Reina Sofia and the IES "Juan de la Cierva y Codorniu" and the level of which has met the expectations of the competition.

In this regard, the mayor stressed that the most represented by the students has been to the actions carried out by local police of the municipality, as many comics for the contest have been reflected in his cartoons different stories in that has been given a major role in the body of the local police Totana actively collaborating with the phenomenon of truancy.

The cartoon won first prize in the competition, conducted by José Manuel Segura Imbernón College "Reina Sofía", under the slogan "If in the future want to work, go to school, to be studied", tells the story of two children with different future.

One of them goes to school every day, and although it has the odd problem with one of his companions, a boy is responsible and aware of the importance of education for their future.

The other child in the story however decided not to go to school, do not deal with the problems you have and enjoy the present moment without at any time reconsider its future.

Over time, the guy who finished their studies is an advocate for the rights and freedoms of the people, and the guy who decided not to attend classes and not graduating is unemployed and his future is uncertain.

The comic won second prize has been made by the students Pedro Javier Guillermo Lopez and Luis Valverde Arnao, both the IES "Juan de la Cierva y Codorniu.

On this occasion the authors have reflected the parallel stories of two teenagers.

One of them investigated and eventually got the reward of having a decent job.

The other, meanwhile, dropped out at an early age to become a person without a future.

The story ends with the slogan: "Every job has its rewards.

If you work and go to school today, have a good job tomorrow. "

The Councillor for Education welcomed the participation of each and every one of the students, because "the papers submitted for the contest have been very original, have adapted to the needs of the contest and indicate that much has been done by the participants , resulting in each and every one of them a great level. "

Furthermore, also thanked the schools and teams of teachers for their involvement and awareness on the issue of truancy and stressed the "great" work since the municipal truancy, congratulating the two techniques.
