The Town Hall is committed to promote and create employment through agricultural cooperatives (08/04/2009)

The City Council of Totana is making a tremendous effort with a commitment to the promotion and creation of employment through agricultural cooperatives working with the lowering of taxes and municipal taxes and showing their support for the implementation of future plans for local agriculture.

Therefore, the local Town Hall has demonstrated, on more than one occasion, the stubborn defense partners, managers and staff at the Agricultural Cooperative of Totana (COAT) and anything that could affect them, working with them to establish future plans for expansion and agricultural development in the municipality, since "it is time to solve the problems of the businessmen who suffer most from economic crisis."

In this sense, the first mayor remembered when in 2001 the local Consistory granted the declaration of special interest to this company and the reduction of 50 percent of ICIO in the activities of the crushing and grinding of pepper and almond blanching and industrialization.

On the other hand, the Local Government Board approved early last February, the environmental qualification of the proposed amendment of the installation works shelling, blanching and industrialization submitted by the commercial almond COATO.

SCL These works, which have the environmental assessment, included the extension and modification of office space located on the road to Mazarrón, where the merchant operates.

Also, the full City Council at its regular meeting last February, agreed to hear the declaration of special interest or municipal utility works for the construction of a shed between two existing buildings on site horticultural COATO as Coato comprises more than 4,000 partners, with more than 600 of Totana, and more than 250 workers, nearly all residing in Totana.

Plenary also agreed to grant a rebate of 95 percent of the amount ICIO of these works and 100 percent of the amount of the fee paid in the hasty license.

In the same vein, the mayor of Totana, José Martínez Andreo, last January, through a public statement made available to the Cooperative for the implementation of various future development of the company in this town and never holding wanted, through their actions and statements, harming the economic and social interests of the cooperative or its members.

The mayor has emphasized the great career taken place since COATO, whom he described as "one of the leading companies in regional and national cooperative environment, and is a great satisfaction to his deployment and operation in this county."

Martínez Andreo has reiterated its unconditional support for the work and effort COATO leaders have made in recent years to the current levels of business development, recognizing that the development of COATO is a leading economic benefit to the town of Totana and this has been the result of the achievements and prestige that the cooperative has achieved national and international level, through the efforts, dedication and work of its officers and employees.

He also called for maintaining a line of smooth collaboration between the Council and Rector of COATO and municipal institution, and added that the work being done by the cooperative prestige to our town.
