Councilwoman Women and Equal Opportunities, Josefa María Sánchez Méndez, presented the program on the Reconciliation of work and family life, targeting children and families in the municipality with the aim of raising awareness in society totanera need to share responsibility for family and professional life.

This program, called "Totana: a commitment to reconciling work and family life" has been launched by the municipal department under the support of the Directorate General of Family and Minors of the Ministry of Social Policy, Women and Immigration Murcia

In this line of work we have planned several actions framed within the conciliation program being carried out, such as the awareness campaign on shared responsibilities in local media, the workshops and a day of living on sharing household tasks and responsibility addressed to students of schools and families to promote family responsibility, and developing a calendar for 2009, which will include input from students in the workshops of family responsibility with the objective of each calendar month that imposes new changes on the distribution of tasks in the family.

In this sense, the mayor stressed the need to influence in various fields such as family and education, regarding the division of labor at home and in society through awareness campaign on family responsibility, with the aim of develop change strategies that overcome cultural resistance to the equitable sharing of time and tasks that have to do with home maintenance, central to achieving equality in this matter and ensure that the reconciliation of work and family life is a matter of both women and men.
