The Mayor of Totana, José Martínez Andreo, accompanied by the councilman of Health, Cayuela Trini Crespo, and Councilman Member Welfare, Juan Carrion Tudela, have maintained a working meeting with the Minister of Health, María Ángeles Palacios, for addressing needs in health is the municipality.
During the meeting, the agreement has materialized for the project of building the new South Totana Health Center, located in the area of "The Scale."
The tender, as reported by the mayor, will take place in late 2008 for the center to begin construction in early 2009.
The mayor said the center will be fully operational within this term, since the Ministry has pledged to cover the economic gap that will be required for completion of the project.
In this sense, Martínez Andreo said that this infrastructure will better serve the residents of the municipality, and that serve a population of 14,500.
At the meeting, which was also attended by the secretary general, Jose Luis Gil Nicholas, general director of Citizen Services, Addictions and Consumer Affairs, the Ministry informed the political representatives of the municipality will soon begin the remodeling of Health Center.
This intervention will solve the problems that caused the drinking water network in the consultations and the façade of the building.
The mayor and council have asked the Health Department more resources and staff to the Health Center.

Since it began, explained Martínez Andreo, has been the City who has paid all expenses, indicating that it is time that the Department consider this service to include the Regional Plan, and in a few months will also have a multipurpose room which will provide advisory service to the families of the mentally ill.
For its part, the Ministry of Health informed the mayor and council members that the Transportation Plan of the Region of Murcia includes the incorporation of ambulances, which will serve 24 hours in the municipality.
Minutes before the workshop, the first mayor and councilman of Health accompanied the members of the Association for Rare Diseases and Development Degenerative Disorders Totana (D'IMAGES) the visit to the Minister of Health.
In this regard, the mayor said that representatives of the association informed the Councillor of the local implementation of which will be launched to coincide with the celebration of the First Meeting of Rare Diseases at the weekend of 24 to 26 October.
The mayor praised the ongoing work of this association in relation to rare diseases "that the City is willing to Totana become a leader in the research of such diseases."
