Culture recalls the bases of the eighth edition of "Historical Research Award" Alporchones, and increasing their value, worth 3,000 euros (12/08/2008)

The councilman of Culture and Tourism, Ana Belén García López, recalled the eighth convocation of the Historical Research Prize "Alporchones", which was founded in 1994 in order to publicize and disseminate the history of Totana.

The award, which meets every two years, and has increased its amount is € 3,000 and publication.

The increase in this amount was approved unanimously by the municipal corporation in the plenary session last April through a motion filed by the Department of Culture, which aim to increase the amount of Alporchones Historical Research Prize of the current 2704 , 55 euros to 3,000 euros, in order to increase the value and relevance of this Award.

This call can attend all those who hold the bachelor's degree, and as reported to the mayor, the papers have to be original and to discuss any aspect of the history of this county.

Papers must be submitted to the 14-hour October 16, 2008 with three original work, signed with a pseudonym and accompanied by an escrow, which represent the author's data: name, address, ID number, telephone and wish to participate in the Historical Research Prize "Alporchones" by request addressed to the Mayor-President of the City of Totana.

The jury which will decide the prize will be chaired by the mayor and the council composed of Culture, as vice president, the municipal archivist, a technician appointed by the Ministry of Tourism and Culture, a technician appointed by the University of Murcia, a local person of recognized standing.

The mayor thanked the people who have participated in previous editions because "their efforts have helped increase our cultural heritage," and encouraged all researchers interested in the history of the town of Totana to submit work.

He stressed the importance of each and every one of the papers presented over the years and made a brief reminder of all the papers presented in various editions.

In the first round was won by Juan Cánovas Mulero with the work: "Solidarity religious partner in the modern era.

In the second call, at 1,996, the prize went to Pedro Martinez Cavero with "Approaches to the Prehistory and Early History of Totana, published the following year, 1997.
