Inauguration of the rehabilitation works of the Hermitage "Our Lady of the Rosary of Paretón-Cantareros and new parish halls (11/08/2008)

The mayor, José Martínez Andreo, accompanied by many of the municipal corporation, and the episcopal vicar zone, José Antonio Abellán, inaugurated the restoration work of the shrine of Our Lady of the Rosary "in the hamlet of El Paretón- Cantareros and new parish halls built in the adjacent areas, whose actions have been implemented in the past 18 months and have had a budget of 367,000 euros.

The opening ceremony was held coinciding with the start of the festivities taking place from this week in the parish, and in whose act, before the Mass, a video of the different phases of rehabilitation of the temple.

The event involved the mayor, the vicar of area Guerao Francisco architect, who explained the nature of the restoration, and the mayor-headman, Thomas Paredes, and was attended by dozens of residents of the hamlet, and other religious town.

The works in the parish center has mainly consisted of the original restoration of the chapel in three distinct phases, dating temple dates back to 1728 and is owned by the Bishop of Cartagena, the building of new places of worship and pastoral work and treatment of outdoor spaces annexes.

The actions undertaken have been carried out under a collaboration agreement signed two years ago between the city of Totana and the bishop of the diocese, Juan Antonio Reig Pla, to comprehensively restore the temple that was in a dilapidated state that only allowed religious activity.

The total surface area of activity has been 520 square meters, and that the parcel affected by the works has an irregular shape, as its facade gives the Potters Street and Jose Cura, making it possible to restore its original appearance , since over time you were adding buildings to the body of the chapel that shaped a volume of terraced buildings to misrepresent it.

The project includes the rehabilitation of the central body of the chapel, declared a Monumental Interest, which covers an area of 137.70 meters square, where work has been undertaken under the cover and the terrazzo, coating and insulation of the façade, and new wiring and light

In addition, the construction works of new outbuildings, after its demolition, have allowed to build the rooms where living now worship, stay thrones, toilets and parish hall with spaces communicated to the temple and airy.

Also, there have been the paving and exterior lighting and layout of sidewalks and roads surrounding the temple and fairgrounds where rise buildings.
