Totana City Council will undertake immediately the settlement works for damage caused by leakage in one of the walls in the Rambla de La Santa, once the Hydrographic Confederation of Segura (CHS) authorize the necessary permits and relevant to the Consistory to execute such action.
These leaks are producing the appearance of water into the channel of the Rambla de La Santa, at two different points on one side of the infrastructure as it passes through the town of Totana.
The Water and Sewer Councillor Antonia Camacho, also responsible for managing the Municipal Water Service, reported that his department asked two months ago to the CHS's request to remedy the situation;
and he recalled that it has been dragging on since 2011 without having been given a final solution.
In addition, he referred to the complexity of the work by taken to execute the performance of mandatory from inside the channel of the Rambla, through the walls of this infrastructure, instead of breaking the sidewalks and the road in order to not interfere with traffic and cause more inconvenience to residents and users in the area.
Camacho also reported that most of the leaks are not from the sewer drain, hence does not generate stench;
but mostly water from the vault area Canico.
He added that this situation is due to the progressive deterioration of the situation of sanitation in the area not have been foreseen at the time and reiterated that it will solve as soon as possible following the relevant administrative delays.
The mayor insisted that it is a complicated act that requires permission of the CHS to undertake it from the bed of the wadi and not through the sidewalks and the street itself in order to avoid added inconvenience.
