More than 1,000 members attending the General Assembly COATO (12/12/2015)

On the afternoon of Friday, the COATO cooperative, which has over three thousand active members and more than 21,000 hectares of crops from Murcia, Andalusia, Castilla la Mancha and Valencia;

held the Ordinary General Assembly attended by over a thousand members.

The Assembly was intended to assess the balance sheet and income for the year 2014-2015 has, as well as the audit and accounting and tax report, submitted directly to the audience, both auditors (ACR) and tax advisers and accounting (PROMER) of the cooperative;

reports credited the strength and financial autonomy COATO and proper accounting and tax reflecting the economic management of the cooperative in the past year, the reports and balance sheets - a copy of which had been delivered to partners - was approved unanimously.

Also it approved unanimously ratify the powers and actions taken by the Governing Council and the President, in connection with the adaptations and modifications necessary for qualification as OPFH of different activities.

While also unanimous agreement that COATO and Section OPFH was adopted, participate in the establishment of a cooperative group or association OPFH, to perform some specific actions assigned to such entities.

At the meeting the awards were also given to members who excelled in last season for the various products, which a diploma and a batch of COATO offered.

He also discussed and approved the meeting the possibility of moving to Andalusia some of the facilities and expansions that the company has to Totana, in order to provide an operational center to its partners in Andalusia, as well as gain access to the support that this community Autonomous paid to the processing and marketing of organic products and environmental actions.

Responsible for environmental and quality of COATO informed the Assembly that probably the cooperative enterprise, - that is the European leader in area under organic farming and a benchmark and pioneer in the implementation of systems and management models and environmental excellence - had to disassemble new installations of energy (steam, heat, water), fueled by biomass from own almond shell that produces at its facilities, located paralyzed for nearly two years, despite fifty times that emit less CO2 than current, having a new environment required environmental clearance usually takes several years to be processed.

Following this report, the President of the Assembly COATO moved his confidence that the new Minister of Agriculture - who had visited the facility last week - would resolve this situation as soon as possible.

"But - according to Jose Luis Hernandez - we do not rule out that if in the next three months is not fully resolved this situation, proceed to uninstall and remove the installation until now paralyzed and move from this one of several parts of Andalusia where we are offering locations and facilities by municipalities and other public institutions.
