City officials have recently visited the CEIP "La Cruz" Totana in order to see first hand the project of "Eco School Garden" has granted the autonomous region, and that allowing building one within school facilities.

The mayor, Isabel Maria Sanchez, and the councilors of Education, Josefa Maria Sanchez, Works and Infrastructure, María José Bedia, and Sports, Bartholomew Pallares, have known the outcome of the project initially developed municipal workers for the implementation of this educational project, and which then they have worked with students and teachers in order to promote and spread the organic farming among schoolchildren through a series of actions.

During the visit they were present the center's director, Ana Belen Garcia Lopez, and the head teacher and secretary of the management team and the president of the AMPA, Agustin Martinez.

The ecological school garden has been launched in an existing space next to the kindergarten classrooms and school sports fields.

It has conducted the first gathering of the harvest for the students to consume in their homes.

School gardens are an ideal tool for a company committed to the transition to a Agrifood System (EMS) in harmony with our natural resources and towards more just and equitable social models education.

The school garden in the school can address global or interdisciplinary way, depending on age, a plurality of educational objectives in Infant or compulsory primary education as well as a wide variety of conceptual, procedural and attitudinal contents of the different fields and areas present in these educational stages.

It provides a natural living laboratory, where students have the opportunity to "learn by doing" and acquire more skills and techniques to improve their quality of life, your family and your community.

Totana other centers also work or are working on projects to promote school gardens in its facilities, although this is the first that has a direct subsidy from the Ministry of Education under the project presented the educational community.
