Andrés García: "If I am mayor taxes will not rise in the next legislature" (06/05/2015)

The Socialist candidate, Andres Garcia, said that in the years of the PP has shown that raising taxes is not the solution to the economic situation of the City, which totaneros already pay enough taxes and that if the mayor will not be tax increases in the next legislature.

According to the Socialist candidate direct taxes, especially property tax has risen sharply since 2003 when the Socialists left the government, that has failed to improve services, by contrast, said Andres Garcia, and another that much money entered the Hall has been wasted.

He said that the PP governments will be held accountable to the citizens and explain they have spent all this money and because it has generated a debt of 150 million euros.

Regarding indirect taxes, primarily the tax on construction, said that today do not have much significance in income because, unfortunately, much activity has declined in recent years.

He recalled that in 2003 some 900,000 euros were entered in 2014 and have just reached the 250,000 euros.

He said the objective is to encourage construction sector through the approval of the General Plan and promoting rehabilitation.

As for the taxes we pay for fees and charges, he said we are well above the regional average per capita.

You need to review the fees for issuing documents and administrative procedures, since, reported in these 12 years the PP has put rates for almost all procedures that citizens need the City, and in some cases, he added, have only a tax collection purpose.

He said it is clear that the City Council is a public service available to citizens and pledged to review all the fees for issuing documents and administrative procedures and eliminate those that are deemed unnecessary.

As for the Municipal Water Service he said that we must conduct a thorough audit of the operation of this service and depending on the results make the decisions that most interest to citizens.

He said the current situation is untenable because we have spent years without paying the water to the Commonwealth Taibilla Channel, with a debt of over EUR 7 million, and because almost 50% of the water we buy them is lost on the road the poor condition of the networks, which, as reported, has meant throwing in 2014 more than 1 million euros.

He said that as things stand at City Hall, let lose more than 1 million euros, is irresponsible and another example of mismanagement of the mayor and the PP.
