Totana Local Police vehicle features a new loan from the General Directorate of Traffic with breathalyzer (14/10/2014)

Local Police Totana has added to its fleet a new vehicle loan from the Directorate General of Traffic (DGT) equipped with a breathalyzer to perform breath tests used in the controls and develop road safety work.

The Government delegate, Joaquín Bascuñana and the provincial head of Traffic, Virgina Jerez, signed the agreement for the transfer of vehicle traffic to the councils of Totana and Alhama, which was sucrito by the rulers of both municipalities, Isabel María Sánchez Fernando and Alfonso Ceron.

The sale of the vehicle by the Provincial Traffic, as explained, will not only provide coverage in alcohol tests, but to carry out prevention work in road safety.

It also has noise and light to illuminate excluded signaling traffic, primarily in lanes and exits in places where you can not have artificial light areas.

The delivery of the vehicle to the local police DGT is temporary, but extended in time if a set of objectives are met under the agreement signed between the Central Traffic Authority and the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces in Road Safety.

The vehicle is a model "Fiat Scudo" and is labeled with the hallmarks of the General Directorate of Traffic, but will always conducted by local police officers in uniform.

The assignment of this new vehicle is an example of the collaboration that the council and the DGT for years, both when carrying out road safety campaigns and, as in this case, in regard to the contribution material resources.

The Mayor of Totana stated that this new vehicle will help the local police to conduct a more efficient work that allow play a better public service delivery and noted that this is part of the institutional collaboration of the Government of Spain with other administrations.

The event was also attended by councilors of Public Safety Totana and Alhama and the heads of the local police in both towns, as well as the Brigade Civil Guard barracks in Totana.
