The House approved the ordinance regulating the provision of support for children in or at risk of poverty or social exclusion in the city (26/09/2014)

The full City Council last night approved Totana, at the regular meeting for the month of September, unanimously, the proposal of Councillor for Social Care and Education to approve the ordinance regulating the provision of support for children in or at risk of poverty or social exclusion.

Aid ordinance regulating economic benefits are designed to support families in conflict, vulnerability and social exclusion where children live together in order to enable them to acquire access to goods and services that support social protection and inclusion of these children and its proper development.

In this sense these grants are complementary or supplementary to other aid that may exist in other social protection systems intended for the same purpose, especially those from the standard or formal education system.

In line with this, these benefits do not try to provide an alternative to the same but improved its coverage and effectiveness, especially given the need to address quickly the coverage of this lawsuit as widely as possible taking into account the interest of minors.

The aid under this ordinance refer to financial assistance for acquisition-purchase of school materials such as textbooks, teaching materials, consumable materials (notebooks, writing materials, etc.) required by the respective school;

scholarships school canteen;

scholarship assistance to municipal nursery schools;

scholarships to attend extracurricular activities organized by public or private entities;

and transportation assistance;

among others.

In addition, the motion of the Popular Party urge the Government of Spain and the European Commission it was agreed that a product such as melon, watermelon, broccoli, grapes, lettuce and citrus are included in the list of products eligible for aid from the European Union, in order to offset the negative effects of the veto imposed by Russia on imports from the EU.

In the same motion is presented that weekly monitoring is done to determine the evolution of the measures taken by the EU, consumption data, prices and volumes, and also to be carried out detailed monitoring of how it is affecting the 'Russian crisis' the fruit and vegetable sector, articulating block measures, serious, hard and fast before the situation created by the 'Russian veto' agricultural products.

PP's motion also included that is made available to affected countries sufficient economic performances starting to use it to support the products concerned;

Community regulations aid the products concerned are in force while the veto imposed by Russia to our exports is maintained;

and to ask the Government of Spain to carry out a campaign of promotion and dissemination, to encourage domestic consumption of fruits and vegetables.

Also approved with votes in favor and against the PP PSOE and IU-Greens, the motion of the Popular Group which proposed to express the will of the Municipal Corporation that appropriate legal changes ensuring respect for the will be taken majority of citizens and the stability of the City, so that the head of the most voted list in Local Elections elected mayor.
