History The site of Cabezuelas

The site is known since ancient times but has gone unnoticed so far.

However, they are very interesting materials in the Archaeological Museum of Lorca, the result of a small archaeological work that was done in the 70s by the director of the Provincial Archaeological Museum of those years, Manuel Jorge Aragonese.

It is a settlement over 2000 years of occupation since the oldest documented so far remains date back to the Late Bronze Age;

occupying an important moment in the Iberian period (perhaps the greatest splendor), and remains of Roman chronology, one last time occupation Andalusian period also documented.

From the urban point of view, we can say that it is the settlement that gives rise to the current occupation of the town of Totana.

The goal of archaeological research in "The Cabezuelas" is the enhancement of the excavated areas in the 70s and intervention in areas that have been adversely affected by exposure to the elements, such as the abundant clandestine interventions.
