Totana Civil Protection, along with the Cancer Association and the Basketball Club Totana, in collaboration with the Department of Health of the City of Totana, return to perform next Thursday 19 June, a campaign to attract bone marrow donors.
Following the success of the first day the organizers have decided to hold another to continue attracting donors.
The campaign was held under the slogan "Donate bone marrow will be giving away a life" and will be performed with a simple blood by health professionals.
The campaign is for information only to prospective donors, given that 70% of patients who need a bone marrow transplant do not have a family donor, so they need a volunteer not related to a high degree of compatibility.
During the day potential donors will be informed of the additional examinations associated both as donor and record the donation itself if it occurs.
Subsequently, a blood test will be performed to study the characteristics of histocompatibility and a small amount of blood will be stored in the laboratory in order to extend the study in the future without the need for a new extraction in the case of a patient support appear.
The decision to be a donor should be well thought out result of the previously received information and clarification of all doubts and questions that the donor may have.
Interested persons may approach the Centre for Civil Protection on Thursday 19th June from 17:00.
