History of theatrical performance

The sacramental Auto is based on a manuscript dating from the eighteenth century, when they were the first news we have of these representations, which are the most prominent manifestation of the traditional and folkloric heritage.

Indeed, in the town of Totana, is this El Pareton, the only place where this tradition, which is set in the region of Murcia to incorporate the typical play characters with traditional huertanos costumes are preserved, whose dialogue panocho , a tinge of regionalist forms the work.

The performance, which lasted about two hours, draws from over 30 years that has been representing the characteristic folk musical heritage of the area and traditional dances ago.

Thus, in the Auto, very Murcia text features dating from 1774 and signed the manuscript of 1924 Guirao Bernardino Garden, is divided into three parts.

The first one corresponds to the meeting of the three Magi, riding camels and with their respective pages, with star, represented by a little girl on the horse for a donkey, who leads to the palace of King Herod.

The symbol of the star guides them to the palace site, where a dialogue is held in panocho between the main characters, dressed in typical costumes huertanos, also interspersed with the presence of the other characters in the play (King Herod, devil, etc.).

Finally, the Magi are directed towards the living crib to worship the baby Jesus to fulfill its mission and provide these bearing.
