The Education Department of Youth and return, once again, to put in place for this academic year 2013/2014 the Educational Support Project in Totana, which is aimed at children and youth in cultural disadvantage and that provides for the collaboration of college students, that in exchange for college credit, are developing a volunteer assignment during the school year.
According to sources from both municipal departments, it is to support the child to reinforce him in those school subjects you need, thereby improving academic performance and study habits, and trying to involve the family in the educational process of their children.
With this educational intervention seeks to improve the learning of children and young people who are disadvantaged in socio-cultural contexts.
To do this, there will be a complementary intervention to that of their school from a conception of coordination between social agents involved in the educational process of the students who will run this project.
The project was conducted in collaboration with the Service of Social and Volunteer of the University of Murcia.
This initiative was launched last year in which seven volunteers worked seven schools in Totana, looking benefited a total of thirty-five primary school students.
In principle it is expected that reinforcement tasks are taught in schools two days a week in the afternoon.
We are currently in the dissemination phase of the project and recruitment of volunteers, being scheduled to begin reinforcement tasks beginning of November.
Students who may be interested in collaborating on the project must contact the Department of Youth and Education, Sociocultural Center "Jail" or in the city of Totana, respectively.
