The Sports Council of the City of Totana has developed in the past year 2012/13 the School Sports Programme in all primary schools and secondary schools in the town, in which more than 1,300 school students of different ages.
This has been aimed at school children aged between 8 and 18 years, corresponding to the categories baby, juvenile, childish, cadet and youth, both male and female.
This activity has also been framed as Phase Championship Local Sports Promotion of the Region of Murcia, which summons DG Physical Activity and Sport in the Region of Murcia, in its own Program Sports School Age.
The participating schools this school year have been Queen Sofia, Tierno Galvan, Santa Eulalia, La Cruz, La Milagrosa, Santiago, San Jose, Regional, Luis Perez Rueda, Guadalentin Lebor, Juan de la Cierva and Prado Mayor.
In terms of participation we should mention Queen Sofia centers and Santa Eulalia, with 250 schools and 197 participants respectively.
The sports that have been launched throughout the course are: Badminton, Table Tennis, Chess, Cross Country, Orienteering, Athletics, Playing Athletics, Indoor Soccer, Basketball, Handball and Volleyball.
The highest participation in this regard has been registered with the Futbol Sala, with 259 participants, followed by Playing athletics with 222 participants and Cross Country with 210 participating schools.
Also organized in this school a complementary activity that has been a Day of Popular and Alternative Sports Games, attended by 650 students belonging to the child categories juvenile in all schools in the locality.
Of note is the participation of school children in the different phases totaneros regional school sport, with a total of 241 participants from all sports convened, highlighting the increased participation in the disciplines of Futsal, Cross Country and Orientation.
For sports results are concerned, we must mention the regional championship titles achieved in the form of badminton by the Regional College in Alevín category, and in the form of guidance, by the Reina Sofia School in juvenile and child categories male.
And besides, the regional runners achieved in Guidance, by Marta Navarro (IES Prado Mayor) in female junior category, and Table Tennis by IES Juan de la Cierva, in male cadet.
Also mention third regional posts made by the Colegio La Milagrosa, in table tennis, juvenile category, and the Colegio Santa Eulalia, in Badminton, juvenile category.
They have also been successful regional school sport; Cindy Amaguaya Ceron (Colegio La Milagrosa) in Chess, with a fourth place in junior category, and Vicente Abderrahman Vivancos (Colegio La Cruz) in Cross Country, with a fifth place in Category alevin.
Finally, we mention the collaboration that has taken the Sports Department of the City of Totana in the School Sports Programme, by teachers and physical education teachers of schools and sports clubs also Totana have worked, as in the case of Table Tennis Club, Badminton Club, Chess Club and Club Guidance.
