The Parents Association of Mentally Handicapped Totana (PADISITO) opened last Friday night the new classroom, which is assigned by the City of Totana in premises in the old school "Juan de la Cierva" development of this partnership activities carried out with the group of mentally handicapped in this town.
Specifically, this new classroom represent PADISITO usual headquarters, which will be provided to the public from Monday to Friday.
The event was attended by the Mayor of Totana, Isabel Maria Sanchez, and Councilwoman Social Care and Citizenship, Josefa Maria Sanchez Mendez and family members, volunteers and friends.
Furthermore, the characteristics of it, she may develop some of the regular activities of the association, such as meetings, board meetings, and meeting with volunteers, family members and the user.
Other activities of interest to be developed in this classroom are emotional support groups for families, summer school, and various activities like workshops or respite care during weekends.
This new class represents a resource which can have this partnership and will result in direct benefits for improving the quality of life for people with intellectual disabilities and their families.
The mayor stressed the importance of this new classroom for the association, commenting that "involves the removal of existing architectural barriers" and recognized social work PADISITO commenting "this type of association with their work come where management can not reach" .
Thus, this event was the first among many others, with which the association wants to commemorate its twentieth PADISITO Anniversary, which falls this present year 2013.
Representatives of the association also wanted to thank all those people and organizations who contributed to the preparation and celebration of this event.
