The delegate of the Government and the Mayor reinauguran rehabilitation works of Civil Guard barracks (01/02/2013)

The government delegate in Murcia, Joaquin Bascuñana, accompanied by the Mayor of Totana, Isabel Sanchez, and Colonel of the 5th Zone of the Guardia Civil, José Ortega, presided at the reopening of the barracks of the Guardia Civil Totana after the work remodeling that have run into the building, to fix damage caused by the earthquake in May 2011 in Lorca.

The Guardia Civil Totana was installed back in his headquarters, located in Redondo Lieutenant Perez of this town, after recent months moved to a premises provided by the Municipality of the town while performing the works.

The Government delegate stressed the "effort" has been made since the overplays of Spain and the very headquarters of the Guardia Civil for the reform of the infrastructure impact on service to citizens.

The works have had a total budget of 345,000 euros and consisted basically in solving structural problems in the building and undertake actions of interior and exterior painting as well as the arrangement of electrical connections and sanitation, among other issues.

Furthermore, new dungeons have been enabled with three cells, which, stated, "no longer will require the transfer of detainees to Murcia and Lorca."

It has also undertaken the renovation of pavilions, since the existing eight, only two were "in a position to use them."

Bascuñana thanked the local Consistory its "cooperation and courtesy" to be made available to the Civil Guard units that have occupied in recent months and caused his transfer to a former municipal school "Juan de la Cierva".

He also thanked the troops congratulated for having developed the Body "professionally" work during the period of the transfer to practice the activity of public safety.

For his part, the mayor has always grateful receptivity shown by the government delegate to the issues raised by the Session, who "always" has managed to meet the demands of the people of Totana Lorca after the earthquakes.

Similarly, he referred to the needs expressed in Totana for property damage caused as a result of torrential rainstorm last September, as well as maintaining barracks doors 24 hours a day during the summer.
