The collection of waste in 2012 was similar to 2011 despite the decline in consumption (25/01/2013)

The Department of Environment reported that the selective collection of municipal solid waste in 2012 was similar to 2011, as reflected in the annual statistics collected in the collection points distributed throughout the town and the villages, despite the decline in the consumption, being the most recycled glass material followed by cardboard and light packaging.

As stated in the annual report of this department, we recorded a collection of 720,010 pounds of glass in 2012, representing a slight increase compared to 626,829 kilograms recorded in 2011.

The month in which as many recycled glass was January (82,880 kg), followed by July (76 850 kg), primarily due to increased consumption by citizens.

In addition, in 2012, were collected in clean containers set points totaling 269,113 kilograms 213,010 pounds of cardboard and light packaging.

Also withdrew 66,761 pounds of cardboard inside the door pick-up service that performs in the evenings the Department in all business establishments of the town, which are independent of retiring in the containers.
