History of the theatrical

The Auto sacramental is based on a manuscript dating from the eighteenth century, when they saw the first news we have of the performances, which are the most prominent manifestation of traditional and folk heritage.

Precisely, in the town of Totana, is in this district of the Paretón, the only place where this tradition is preserved, which is set in the garden of Murcia to incorporate the work with traditional costumes typical huertanos characters, whose dialogue panocho , nuance of regionalist shapes the work.

The performance, which lasted about two hours, draws from over 30 years that has been representing the characteristic musical folk heritage of the area and traditional dances.

Thus, in the Auto, with very Murcia text dating from 1774 and signed the manuscript of 1924 Garden Guirao Bernardino, is divided into three parts.

The first one is for the meeting of the three Wise Men, riding a camel and their respective pages, with the star, represented by a little girl on the horse for a donkey, who leads to the palace of King Herod.

The symbol of the star guides them to the palace site, which is maintained in panocho dialogue between the main characters, dressed in costumes huertanos, which intercalates also attended by the other characters in the play (King Herod, devil, etc.).

Finally, the Magi are directed towards the living crib to worship the baby Jesus to fulfill its mission and offer these bearing.
