The Minister of Culture and Tourism, Pedro Alberto Cruz, today chaired the act of grant of Regional Tourist Interest Easter Totana the Illustrious Cabildo Superior processions criteria.
Along with Cruz were the mayor, Isabel Maria Sanchez, and the president of the Cabildo, Juan Maria Zamarreño.
The counselor noted that Easter Totana "is one of most unique in the region" and stressed the relevance of this distinction "for a town that lives both this holiday."
Also, Cruz said that the granting of this title will arouse the interest of future visitors and stressed that this event, "apart from the pop cultural and religious means, will become a tourist attraction phenomenon certainly important."
After unveiling a commemorative plaque placed next to the title of the Nazarene Memorial Easter Totana, the owner of Murcia Tourism, Government of the City Council gave the president a commemorative scroll by students in the Occupational Center of the locality in which it is recognized this statement.
In attendance were the 17 fraternities and sororities Easter integrated into the Illustrious Cabildo Totana processions.
The Ministry of Culture and Tourism awarded the designation of Regional Tourist Interest in Easter Totana the 12th of December 2011.
Totana Easter has its origins in the fifteenth century and retains identity traits as the attire of the brothers, with the traditional black robe, the speakers with a dragon head, the "arm yourselves" or the orchestra of La Dolorosa, among others.
The counselor concluded that "the Holy Week, for the whole region in general and specifically for Totana, is one of our greatest assets, so we have to exploit the best."
