Totana become a regional reference as to the care of people with disabilities with the launching of the Multipurpose Center for people with mental disabilities "Princess Letizia."
In this infrastructure, which has an area of ​​700 square meters and has comprised a budget of around one million euros, has opened this morning by the Mayor of Totana, José Martínez Andreo, Councillor for Social Welfare, Juan Carrion, and the Director of Social Action Murcia Institute (IMAS), Isabel Sola.
The building is intended for a Day Centre for People with Mental Illness, families, associations and a Day Care Centre for People with more severe disabilities, as an extension of the activities "José Moya."
The center also has other premises for the use of partnerships related to mental illness, multipurpose spaces, offices, training rooms, double rooms for disabled toilets, kitchen, storage and porch.
The councilman of Social Welfare explained that thanks to the launch of this new center will provide a high quality service activities appropriate to the needs of people with mental illness.
The Day Centre, which is attached through a corridor with the Occupational Center, will be the extension of the current Municipal psychosocial support services.
This area includes rooms suitable for the specific treatment of mentally disabled people who provide a greater degree of dependency and who require care, treatment and specific stimulation.
Carrion pointed out that this is a great project that has been launched with the support of associations of relatives of patients with disabilities who joined the great team of technicians to greatly benefit people with disabilities.
Moreover, during the emotional ceremony in which consumers and family members thanked the Town Council of Totana involvement in disability policies, has publicly acknowledged the role played by Eulalia Guerao and Miguel Martínez García Cánovas.
For his part, Mayor of Totana explained that there are very few municipalities that have this type of a municipal services and that this project has been set up thanks to a grant awarded by the Ministry of Social Policy, Women and Immigration more than 75 percent of total works.
Martínez Andreo has stressed that this project is found that with the daily management of the government team will achieve great success for the town of Totana, generating good services for people with disabilities and employment for carers.
