The City Council may Totana started together with the Association "Project Abraham", a waste collection system of textile, footwear and toys to be introduced in the town streets and to help empower people in social risk .

This new system for collecting waste to be managed in a sustainable manner will allow, through reuse and recovery, people at risk of social usión excl expand their training and improve their social and working conditions.

The councilman of Social Welfare, Juan Carrion, Council Member for the Environment, Trini Cayuela, and President Abraham Project, Rafael Sanchez, presented the main priorities of this project with which to carry out educational and social programs targeted occupational groups at risk.

Specifically, in Totana will continue working for the environment and the employment of people with difficulties through training workshop on social skills in the garment sector repair or shoe repair.

Thus, ten people will be formed which will be referred to the Project from social services after the purchase will be supported through micro-credit for labor and social inclusion, according to advance or the president of the Association

The Association, as the president of the company, through this project that takes place throughout the Region of Murcia 32 people currently working in the municipalities acting and have social center and trails designed to generate employment.

For his part, Councillor for Social Welfare explained that the textile, footwear and toys are present in the European Waste to be managed sustainably, and that his long period of biodegradation and to be non-renewable materials , representing 4 percent of urban waste.

In this regard, he recalled that in the last six years, the Partnership Project Abraham, which is authorized and responsible for the management of this waste has collected more than 6 million kilos of them (15 percent of total) preventing them from landfills and managing them in order to be reused and recovered as by-products through various measures of social economy.

However, Carrion said he has been very important to implement this project, which was adopted at the plenary of December, as the effects of this agreement will be very beneficial, both for residents of Totana to collaborate with the environment and people who form part of the training courses to be undertaken to generate employment.
