The First Pilgrimage to the Holy of Totana was attended by about 300 people. (06/12/2010)

The route has been designed and developed by the Department of Planning and Sustainable Development by a grant of € 30,000 granted by the Directorate General of Tourism and Commerce, respectively, and the municipal contribution of 10,000 euros.

It is an alternative route of ascent to La Santa enabled by parkland avoiding as far as possible the asphalt and in particular the MU-502 road, linking the urban centers of Totana and Aledo.

Among the actions undertaken by the City Council, steps have also been installed for access and recreation areas where hikers can take a break, and have marked the main paths and roads through which athletes and nature lovers pass during travel.

At nine o'clock, about three hundred people gathered at the Plaza Balsa Vieja, the starting point of the route.

From there the pilgrims, following the warning notices, headed by the Arco de Las Ollerías, the area of the marbles in direction of the turret and Camino Camino de Los Mortolitos, to enter from that point on La Rambla Santa has been refurbished to its passage.

According to sources from the Department of Sports, after finishing the stretch of La Rambla, the participants talked about the section of The Chalets and the hamlet of El Grifo, respectively.

Provisioning for all

In the latter the organization had planned a fruit and water supplies.

Behind him the pilgrims performed the last stretch of road from the Arc de Aledo reaching the atrium of the Santa at eleven and a half, that is, two hours after departure mdia the town of Totana.

After a group photo and a few minutes of free time, the pilgrims entered the temple where the parish priests blessed the diplomas and medals of Santa Eulalia who surrendered to them all by the Consistory totanero.

After delivery of these gifts, the organization made available to the pilgrims free buses to go down to town.

Among the pilgrims were the Mayor of Totana, José Martínez Andreo, and Council of Sports, José Antonio Valverde Queen, Tourism, Maria Isabel Sanchez Ruiz, and Social Welfare and Citizenship, Juan Carrion Tudela.

The organization acknowledges the assistance in the event of Local Police, Guardia Civil Traffic, Civil Protection and Sports Volunteers.
