The municipality and the Ministry of Agriculture intensified joint action to eradicate the infestation of cochineal (06/09/2010)

Totana Mayor has proposed to the Ministry of Agriculture to intensify joint action to eliminate, as far as practicable, the mealybug infestation affecting drainers and is causing a plague of mosquitoes that mainly affects the areas of the districts of the municipality.

The mayor has been in contact with the Autonomous Region for technical totanera Town Hall along with the overall direction of Operations and Training Modernization of Agricultural analyze the new situation in which are the stokers in the municipality and actions that can be carried out to avoid, first, to extinguish the infestation and therefore eradicate the plague of mosquitoes that is causing discomfort and problems for residents in the area of the Orchard and Vineyard Carivete.

The Ministry has reported that through the Plant Health Service is conducting a series of actions to control the pest and reduce inconvenience to neighbors, such as locating and mapping of outbreaks, treatment, starting and drainers buried the affected and research.

Wild cochineal
