Project "Restoration and management of the Rambla de Lebor as green connector between the mountains of La Tercia-Espuña and river Guadalentín" (18/08/2010)

The project "Restoration and Management of the Rambla de Lebor as green connector between the mountains of La Tercia-Espuña and Guadalentín River", winner of the National Biodiversity enhance the functionality of the promenade totanera.

The implementation of the project, whose study has been prepared by the Department of Environment in collaboration with the Faculty of Biology, University of Murcia, starting in the last quarter of the year.

The environmental study submitted by Totana state winner was "The Increase of Biodiversity through the draft prepared by the Consistory totanero.

The contest, organized by the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces, the Biodiversity Foundation and the Ministry of Environment, will, thanks to funding of the € 50,000, restructure and manage the avenue to bring it as a link between respective ecological ranges .

Of the 14 awards that have been awarded this statewide contest, the City of Totana managed to position itself in the D, the project funded by the Department of Environment and edited by the Faculty of Biology, University of Murcia.

Through this project, as explained by the mayor responsible for the area of Environment, Trini Cayuela, whose lines of action have been marked by the Department of Ecology and Hydrology, Biology, has made an environmental diagnostic of flora and fauna, the environment of the promenade and through which are structured each of the actions that are going to take shit to improve the functionality of the promenade.

The council has explained that thanks to the actions involved in the project will enhance and strengthen indigenous wild populations in the surroundings of the Rambla de Lebor in each of the sections and recover the structural cohesion of the gully, and the dynamics and the ecological balance in its middle.

Specifically, it will restructure the physical flow of the gully, waste is removed, the ponds will be recovered, among other things.

According Cayuela, will recover the structure and function of the ravine at its mouth and propose management guidelines to promote agricultural and farming management and connectivity through commitment and collaboration agreements with the various groups involved.

The City Council of Totana, part of the Local Governments Network of Biodiversity, held this project involving the same totanera to society through various associations, environmental groups and volunteers.
