A series of recommendations are offered to protect vulnerable groups in the field of electricity (15/03/2018)

The User Advice Service of the Municipal Services of the Department of Economic Development offers a series of recommendations to protect the most vulnerable groups in the field of electricity on the occasion of the World Day of Consumer Rights that is celebrated today 15 March, in what refers to the so-called "electric social bond".

Every year, coinciding with this day, the rights of people as consumers and consumers are remembered.

Since 1984, they have been recognized in our legislation, having taken the leading role due in the 1978 Constitution;

so they were included in the Guiding Principles of Social and Economic Policy.

The detail of what rights are available to consumers and users, in the field of consumption, is reflected in the Consolidated Text of the General Law for the Defense of Consumers and Users and other complementary laws.

Thus, basic rights are: a) protection against risks that affect health or safety, b) the protection of legitimate economic and social interests, c) compensation for damages and compensation for damages suffered, d) The correct information on the different goods or services and education and dissemination to facilitate knowledge about its proper use, consumption or enjoyment, e) The hearing in consultation, participation in the procedure for preparing the general provisions that affect them and f) The protection of their rights through effective procedures.

Also, the current Law 4/1996, of June 14, of the Statute of consumers and users of the Region of Murcia comes to give a charter of nature to such rights in the area of ​​the Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia.

The City Council of Totana, through the Department of Economic Development, and in line with what it means to protect the legitimate economic and social interests of residents in a vulnerable situation by being part of vulnerable groups, is spreading the Social Bonus electric as a measure to alleviate situations of need.

The anticipated discounts can be from 25 to 40% of the concepts of contracted power and electricity consumption.
