The Council of Administration of the Municipal Society that manages the industrial estate and the housing in Totana (Proinvitosa) chose on November 30 the first deputy mayor, Juan José Cánovas as president of this entity.
This agreement was established with the votes in favor of the counselors proposed by Ganar Totana and PSOE and the abstentions of the Popular Party representatives who argued lack of proportionality in the composition and the representative of Ciudadanos, arguing that "it was an expense".
Juan José Cánovas, who has been mayor of Totana until June, replaces Antonia Camacho in a process scheduled from the beginning of the term and returns to the Presidency of PROINVITOSA, whose position he held in 1999/2003, as well as being one of the drivers of this society to be founded at the end of the 80s.
In his time of presidency, Cánovas managed to give benefits to society from the year 2000, dispense with the annual subsidy of the City, cancel loans, increase voluntary reserves and heritage, unifying the resources on Local Development and projecting the polygon in an important way.
In addition, promoted the acquisition of almost 400,000 square meters in land of extension of the polygon, with an investment of 708,299 euros, acquiring pacerlas to 1.60 euros meter that served to manage a cheap land and the expansion of the economy in those years and later .
Similarly, promoted the acquisition of lots in the urban area and El Paretón, for the construction of housing: almost 10,000 square meters, with an investment of 831,590 euros that added to the floor of industrial expansion accounted for an amount of more than 1,500,000 euros in those years and the installation of dozens of companies and services in the "El Saladar" industrial estate.
Juan José Cánovas advocates, in this new stage, as "of utmost importance" the objective of empowering society, as a dynamic element of our economy, attracting investments, services and companies, and fighting against land speculation.
In addition, it is committed to "consolidating the political and social consensus that guarantees the financial viability and the projection of our polygon, with an enviable location, as a zone of services, equipment and job creation, diversifying the local economy", said Cánovas, valuing the management carried out by her predecessor in the position, Antonia Camacho, in that line and in very complicated conditions due to the crisis and the praxis of the 12 years prior to 2015 in this important area.
