The Department of Equality organizes a broad program of activities during the month of November to commemorate the International Day against Gender Violence (03/11/2017)

The Department of Women and Equality of Opportunities of Totana and the Specialized Care Center for Women Victims of Gender Violence (CAVI) have organized during the month of November a wide program of activities to commemorate the International Day of the Struggle against Violence of Gender, celebrated on 25-N.

The program, coordinated by these organizations, has the invaluable collaboration of some associations of women of the municipality and the approval of the Municipal Council of Equality of Opportunities of Totana.

The mayor of the branch, Eulalia Moreno, recently presented the list of activities that will be held this year under the title "Let's rewrite a story without violence through education", and that includes exhibitions, talks, workshops and other actions of awareness and prevention aimed at different audiences.

As a symbolic action, from November 18 to 26, which will be held most of these, is going to proceed to the lighting of the facade of the consistorial building and the placement of the lilac flag against gender violence.

The activities begin on November 6 with the Reading Animation Workshop "Doctor Cuentitis" (5:30 pm, Library "Mateo García"), with the reading of stories that favor gender equality;

and from the 20th to the 25th of this month, it will be the exhibition of works elaborated by the educational centers of Totana (Sala "Gregorio Cebrián").

On November 20 and 21 will be the talks "State Pact against the VG" that will be given by Senator Seve González (Room "Gregorio Cebrián", 7:00 pm, organized by the Asociación Tres Ave Marías) and "The Patriarchate and the Self-esteem of the woman "that will offer the psychologist of the CAVI, Catalina Vidal, (Room" Gregorio Cebrián ", 20:00 hours, organized by the Sociocultural Association of the totanera Woman).

On Wednesday November 22 will proceed to the distribution of ties and information against the VG in the weekly market, an initiative organized by the Association of Housewives Tres Ave Marías of this town.

On Thursday, November 23, the activity called "Heartbeat" will be organized and jointly promoted by Secondary students and the associations involved to form a heart in the Plaza de la Constitución, starting at 12:30.

In addition, on Thursday, November 23 will be the central act of the program, with the demonstration against the VG, with a march through different downtown streets of the city;

and subsequent reading of the institutional manifesto and tribute with candles to the women murdered this year.

The departure will be at 20:30 and will depart from the Plaza de la Constitución.

On Saturday, November 25 a commemorative mass will be celebrated in the Convent (7:00 pm), organized by the Asociación Tres Ave Marías.

Also, during these weeks will be held workshops to raise awareness and prevention of gender violence for adolescents, taught by the CAVI, in the Secondary Education centers of Totana.

For its part, the Collective for Social Promotion "El Candil" will promote two workshops on equal opportunities and gender perspective and creative against gender violence, respectively.

Similarly, four sessions will be held on Wednesdays 8, 15, 22 and 29 of the Women's Self Defense Workshop, at 7:00 p.m., in the School Room, and upon registration.

It will be taught by José Valero Molino, qualified technician of Aikido and personal defense of the Superior Council of Sports.

The Councilor for Equality has explained that it is necessary to involve the whole of the Totanera society and, especially, families and professionals in the transmission and promotion of values ​​of equality, justice, democracy and peace from an early age.

Eulalia Monero has defended the urgent need to develop attitudes and behavior incompatible with sexism and violence.

In this regard, he has advocated betting on a comprehensive prevention strategy and, with the involvement of different agents and sectors of the population, "we are getting closer and closer to eradicating gender violence."

Finally, he has invited the public to continue participating and working responsibly to achieve it, because as he said "enjoy a life free of violence is a fundamental human right, not a privilege," he said.
