The City of Totana requires the Hydrographic Confederation of Segura (CHS) to adopt urgent measures to prohibit the discharge of urban or industrial waste water into the river Guadalentín, from time to time, as it passes through the municipality of Totana.
The municipal government has already requested, after unanimous agreement in plenary session, extraordinary and urgent measures to regenerate the river bed and the adaptation of the steps in the districts of Lébor and El Raiguero, which have been destroyed and offer an imminent danger.
Cyclically, as it has for several decades, the waters polluted by the Guadalentín river are again descending, depending on the passivity of the regional administration, the City of Lorca and the CHS itself.
The first deputy mayor and councilor of Pedanias, Juan Jose Cánovas, says that "it produces ashamed people that investments and funds received from Europe to treat wastewater and reuse it do not give any result and continue to produce pestilent ponds, full of dangerous mosquitoes that Put at risk the health of neighbors and animals that live near the riverbed in the districts of Lébor or El Raiguero.
The affected zones generate complaints of neighbors and neighbors, whose situation is annoying and dangerous for the health, cattle and cultures bordering with the river that is logically aggravated by the summer heat.
