The City Council of Totana has approved granting a grant of 14,000 euros to the parish of Santiago El Mayor de Totana to collaborate in the project to musealize the Tower of the Church and promote its value.

The Local Government Board recently gave green light to the proposal of the Councilor for Tourism for the collaboration in the project of musealización and change of use in the tower of the parochial church.

This assistance is granted given that the Consistory is a public institution that, among other purposes, has to preserve and promote the historical-cultural and artistic heritage of the municipality;

And for this purpose, a series of resources, both material and human, are used in the development of various programs for the recovery of said heritage.

The main purpose of the museum's performance is to bring the identity and meaning of the parish church of Santiago to the visitors;

And to make known the influence of the Military Order of Santiago, custody of the lands of Aledo and Totana since the donation in 1257 of Alfonso X the Wise, in the historical discourse of the old town.

In addition, it presents the transcendence of the tower of the parochial temple throughout the centuries;

And is guided by an expository route, in the process of construction and sense of this space, as well as its link to the main moments of social, political and religious life of the locality.

The project introduces a series of artistic elements that help to internalize the links and manifestations that faith and religiosity have exercised over time in the reality of the municipality.

During the visits, the importance and value of the building itself and the building elements that distinguish the tower of the parish temple are prioritized.
