The installation works of a new take in the drive of Virgen de las Huertas already translate into a substantial improvement in the service and a significant energy saving (12/11/2016)

The improvement works for the installation of a new take in the drive of Virgen de las Huertas that was undertaken in August of 2015 have allowed the practical amortization of the actions that were undertaken almost a year and a half ago, and which translate into a A substantial improvement in the service of drinking water and a significant energy saving, according to a technical report from the Department of Water and Sewerage.

The City Council undertook works to carry out a new take on the network of the Commonwealth Canal Taibilla (MCT) that feeds the drive of Aledo, located on the Road to Los Molinos, on the road to Huerta, an action that solved the Historical problems of supply that had been dragging for years, above all, during the summer season in the areas supplied by the deposit of the Virgen de las Huertas.

During the last years the drive of Virgen de las Huertas has presented numerous problems of supply due to the obsolete installations due to the limitations of the pipeline and the orographic characteristics of the area, which prevented to distribute the demand that the subscribers of the zone of The Secanos, the Gardens and Mortí.

This situation was causing shortages at specific times, more specifically in summer, as users demand a volume much higher than the pipe was able to supply.

The works allowed to connect the section of general distribution network that runs along the Camino de Los Molinos in order to download the demand for the distribution of Virgen de las Huertas, which have been in service since the summer of 2015.

This context has favored the distribution of water supply and economic saving, as the water balance has been significantly improved (volume of demand less than the volume of water) and the reduction of the volume of water to be distributed from the drive is a significant saving In the electricity bill.

With the new performance of this infrastructure, the monthly average of consumption by electricity from August 2015 onwards compared to the period of the first half of the same year has been reduced by approximately 900 euros.

In addition, the expenditure of electricity by the volume of water driven represents the amount of between 0.12 and 0.13 euros / cubic meter.

Likewise, the volume of electricity consumption that led to energy expenditure from August 2015 onwards has been reduced by 6,600 cubic meters per month in relation to the period from January to July of that year.

The technical report also shows that the volume contributed by the MCT to the new takeover amounts to a monthly average of just over 5,000 cubic meters, which represents a reduction compared to the endowment to Virgen de las Huertas of approximately 24% .

Thus, the effective saving that has occurred in electricity from August 2015 to September 2016 amounts to 8,799.30 euros.

At present, the installation of a new general network of drinking water supply is being studied which aims to connect the distribution that runs along the Los Molinos Road with another one that is supplied by the distribution of Virgen de las Huertas, existing in the Rambla of Los Molinos.

This ambitious work would unload the requisite amount of subscribers from the Los Secanos area around 25% of the volume supplied by the MCT in the Virgen de las Huertas outlet, so that the total saving by electric energy expenditure Can amount to the amount of 1,260 euros per month.

This action would join the construction of the new deposit in El Catre that the Consistory totanero is managing with the General Directorate of Water of the Autonomous Community.
