The Mayor of Totana, Juan José Canovas, today began a round of meetings with leaders of the four parliamentary groups in the regional Assembly in order to address issues that directly affect this municipality, and among them the economically situation municipal finance and direct and actual realization of this local entity by the regional government in 2017 aid budgets.
The councilman, accompanied by Councilwoman Antonia Camacho, started the round with the regional deputies of the Popular Group, in this case, the spokesman, Victor Manuel Martinez and totanero parliamentarian, Juan Pagán, with whom they have reviewed some issues general interest of concern to the municipal government, and that will also be addressed on with the rest of parliamentary groups of the PSOE, Podemos and C's.
Among these are the economic situation of the municipal coffers, the measures of the adjustment plan approved by the plenary session last October and the execution of direct investment from the Autonomous Region to City Hall to improve the performance of Municipal Service Water Totana.
Such aid would be granted under study by the Department of Water and Sewerage Authority of the City of Totana, which has been working in this field from the hand of the Directorate General of Water of the Autonomous Community since about a year ago.
The mayor noted that the city can not continue working "with statements of intent" and needs "clear, specific and firm commitments" of the parliamentary groups in the regional Assembly to allocate specific funds in regional budgets 2017 for this matter with the order to increase service performance to 80% (now it is 54%).
The mayor has warned that continuing with the same situation is being generated "an unworkable state and large debts" with the Commonwealth of Taibilla Channel.
It has also indicated that it requires us to further compliance Adjustment Plan recently approved by the municipal council and make decisions identified in this regard;
which he pointed out that for the first time has been reported favorably by the Ministry of Finance and Public Administration.
The claim of the municipal government is to increase network performance to 80% at the end of the legislature in order to make the service economically viable and to avoid losses in an area where water is a scarce commodity.
To this end, it has been calculated that need to undertake a multi-year investment plan, according to research conducted by technicians of the Department of Water and Sewerage network 1.2 million in a program at the rate of 400,000 per year .
Totana City Council has a debt of close to 150 million euros, with a real budget revenues of just over 22 million euros, making it unfeasible that can undertake this plan with its own resources, nor of course it is allowed to the increased financial debt by the Ministry of finance, and financial institutions are willing to finance this investment plan, so that no alternative funding through regional budgets.
