The Day Centre for Persons with Mental Illness Totana organizes a program of activities to mark the World Mental Health Day (29/09/2016)

The Day Centre for Persons with Mental Illness Totana will organize a program of activities on 10 October to commemorate the World Mental Health Day, and in which participate actively users, families and professionals from the center.

The councilman of Social Welfare and Dependencies, Javier Baños, accompanied by the director of the Day Center, Ana Garcia Vera, and the Mental Health Center of Lorca-Eagles, Fernando Lojo, presented the acts that will be organized in order to raise public awareness of the needs of these people with mental disorders.

The activities will be held under the theme "I'm like you but you do not know" and aim to inform the public the reality of geriatric diseases around mental health.

The day on October start an institutional reception in the plenary hall by the mayor, Juan José Canovas and Councilman bouquet, Javier Baños, users and professionals Day Centres for Persons with Intellectual Disability and Mental illness, both of Totana.

In this event, users explain their experiences and work in schools.

In addition, in the afternoon, the Special Conference on Mental Health will be held in the Socio-Cultural Center "Jail" and that involves various activities.

First, at 19:00, there will be a poetry and music called "Dream Antonio", in which you will read a selection of poems from the last book of Antonio Lorca, user center, charge of personalities who are actively involved in projects with this center.

In addition, the activity will liven up with the performance of several songs by the singer totanero, Juanfran Esparza.

At 20:00 hours, will talk about anxiety, fears and foibles that will be given by Dr. Francisco Toledo Romero, associate professor of Psychiatry at the Medical School of the University of Murcia, academic psychiatrist and head of the Unit teacher acute University Hospital of the Arrixaca.

During the afternoon, attendees will also enjoy the exhibition of paintings "Deploying color," also in the Socio-Cultural Center "Jail" itself, with canvases made by users and interpreted according to guidelines of color therapy in the day center itself .
