The mayor, Juan José Cánovas, described as "very positive" his recent meeting with the General Secretariat of Autonomous and Local Finance of the Ministry of Finance peering "light at the end of the tunnel", although the City Council "will continue badly for decades" ;

This measure will represent "an important relief" to respond to the needs of Totana's programs and services.

He also explained that this is "fruit of the momentum" that was given at the beginning of the previous legislature to benefit from Ordination Funds, which have been "determining" for the City Council to "take oxygen".

He specified that the objective of the mayor and the government team coincides with the Ministry's proposals and ruled out the execution of a debt reduction or reduction "because there is discrimination with other local entities that have complied with their obligations."

He reiterated that it is an "extraordinary situation" and commented that "it is already a different context";

He added that the accounting report has not been prepared, at the same time that the debt was estimated at 135 million euros, with a forecast of growth pending more urban agreements.

He added that the City Council has more than 300% of its mortgaged debt, although in the coming months it is expected to reverse the dynamics by cutting 1.2 million euros from it as a result of the surplus to contain this situation.

Juan José Cánovas attended, after the configuration of the new municipal Corporation, accompanied by the councilor Inmaculada Blázquez and municipal technicians of the services of Intervention and Treasury in order to plan the technical roadmap of the future Department of Finance for the beginning of this legislature.

The municipal representatives spoke about the situation of the Ministry's report to the extension of the budget for 2019, sent by the totanero Consistory on December 20, 2018.

It also wanted to discuss the needs of the Fund for the year 2020, as well as the expected dates and developments that can benefit Totana, since there are no firm judgments or new loans to be incorporated;

and since there are no new measures, a new Adjustment Plan should not be redrafted.

In addition, the breach of the Adjustment Plan was addressed in accordance with the fourth quarter of 2017, where in full agreement of November 29, 2018, it undertook to update the Adjustment Plan in 2019: it is to know if said update would be valid in the if the City Council accepts the new measures that affect this municipality.

Municipal officials also learned from the Ministry of the new measures to support local entities under the agreements of the Delegate Commission of the Government of Economic Affairs of March 14, 2019, regarding the provisions of framing, dates planned, obligations and conditions, among other matters.
