The mayor of Totana, Juan José Cánovas, has started the commitment of the Commonwealth of the Canals of the Taibilla (MCT) to divide the payment of the corresponding municipal debt with this entity of the Ministry for the Ecological Transaction during several coming years.
This was one of the important agreements reached yesterday by the first mayor in his meeting with the delegate of the Government of the MCT, Francisca Baraza, at the headquarters of this body in Cartagena, which were also present councilors Inmaculada Blázquez and Pedro José Sánchez, along with the secretary of the ministerial entity, José Manuel Fuentes.
The first mayor tackled the settlement of late payment interest practiced a few months ago by the MCT on the totanero Consistory and amounting to more than 500,000 euros from the debts accumulated with this entity, which will have to materialize with the Tax Agency in an interview that the alderman will keep at the beginning of September.
In this regard, the mayor added that "this figure of interest is very important to address it in the municipal budget of 2019, and should be sensitive to an administration that wants to get out of this difficult financial situation," he explained.
Those responsible for the MCT have valued very positively the effort made by the City of Totana in recent years to settle a debt that exceeded in 2015 the 8 million euros, "and that today is virtually up to date," as specified by Cánovas .
The definitive cession was also dealt with by the MCT to the Consistory of the House of the Guardian, in Cordones, a management that has been carried out since the beginning of the previous term by the mayor, and on which the administrative file is being finalized.
"It is very likely that in the coming months the City Council will already have this infrastructure available to boost youth programs and that it will be allocated to resources and activities aimed at young people;
in a space very close to Sierra Espuña and in a very interesting route near the Argaric site of the Tira del Lienzo and the Sports City, "he announced.
Finally, the municipal managers raised the need for the MCT that, once the works of new canalization of the Canal in the stretch from Las Suertes to the deputation of El Paretón, contemplate the construction of a regulating tank, with filling by gravity, for the supply of the districts of El Paretón and El Raiguero, respectively.
This infrastructure would ostensibly reduce the consumption of electricity, improve the storage and distribution of the service, and alleviate the operating and maintenance costs that the totanero City Council has been supporting.
The mayor of Totana explained that this planning would be "analogous" to the one that already developed as councilor of the branch in the deputation of Lebor, where a regulatory deposit was built that supplies the users of this district, with the corresponding improvement in the supply and supply and the consequent energy savings.
Juan José Cánovas has appreciated with satisfaction the degree of reception that the municipal proposals have had on the part of the leaders of the MCT, where, according to him, "the City Council enjoys a deep respect for the effort in the fulfillment of our commitments and obligations , besides having clear the necessary works to be financed by the public entity ".
