At 8:30 in the morning there was the start of a new edition of the Valencia Marathon, which had a totally flat course with an official distance of 42,195 meters.
The winners of the test were the Ethiopians:
Male: Leul Gebreselassie (2 hours, 4 minutes and 31 seconds).
Female: Ashete Dido (2 hours, 21 minutes and 13 seconds).
Both beat the record of the test Gebreselassie did it in 28 seconds less, and Dido in 1 minute and 13 seconds less.
On this occasion, there have been four CAT athletes who have competed in the event: Stefan Pracht, Jesús Martínez, Poli Alcaraz, Carlos Ballester and Raúl Cifuentes.
The first CAT athlete was Stefan, who finished in an official time of 3 hours, 2 minutes and 54 seconds and a real time of 3 hours, 2 minutes and 52 seconds, occupying position 200 in the Master 50 category.
Jesus, he did it with an official time of 3 hours, 8 minutes and 20 seconds and a real time of 3:07:46, being the 1776 of the general and 374 in the Master category 45.
A few moments later Poli finished, with an official time of 3:08:24 and real time of 3:06:46, in position 2443 of the general classification and 593 in the category Master 35.
Carlos, stopped the clock in an official time of 3:24:29 and real of 3: 23: 1 hours, in position 4527 and 1077 in Master 40.
Raul, could not finish the test but passed the equator of the competition in 1 hour and 12 minutes.
