Volunteers of Civil Protection in Totana have carried out in the last weeks work of technical revision to the more than two hundred hydrants distributed by different spaces of the urban helmet, the urbanization "The Pond" and the industrial polygon "The Saladar" within the program of maintenance of the Fire Equipment Review Plan developed by this local group.
Those responsible for these works have reviewed more than fifty hydrants located in the industrial estate "El Saladar" and the rest are those that are distributed in different neighborhoods of the urban area, including ten located on the Rambla de La Santa avenue, where the weekly market is held every Wednesday.
In addition, the hydrants located in the urbanization "La Cérámica", the urbanization "La Báscula", Triptolemos, El Parral-San Francisco, the exhibition center, Residencial Espuña, La Santa, Tirol-Camilleri and the Plaza de the Constitution, among others.
The technicians, who have to perform these tasks at least once a year, must also check the accessibility of the environment and the signaling in the buried hydrants and make a visual inspection verifying the tightness of the whole.
In addition, take advantage to remove the covers of the exits, grease the threads and check the status of the joints of these infrastructures.
The drive nuts are also greased or the oil chamber of the same is filled, and the hydrant is opened and closed, checking the correct operation of the main valve and the drainage system.
In any case, the Municipal Water Service is notified of those systems that present pressure difficulties or do not work directly for correction.
